A Reply to an Internet Marketer’s Proposal

Get Rick Quick CRAP!

I received this email some minutes ago of an internet marketer by the name of Desmond Chow offering me a position as web designer for their internet marketing company. What on earth do they want from me? Beautify their rubbish websites? Enough of internet spam and search pollution already!

I’m sure all of you who have used Google know how annoying it is when you get totally crap and useless search results of skillfully-crafted keyword-laden SEO sites polluting your search results.

My Reply

Hi Desmond thank you for the offer but I have to decline.

May I ask what kind of websites do you guys put up on the web? Keyword-laden, ad-saturated SEO web sites with content aggregated (or stolen) from other sites, using crawling software? I hope I am wrong because such sites are what I called world wide web pollution. These sites have no value to users and are exploiting the nature of search engines to make advertising money with advertisers getting very little returns. I personally hate such sites to the core because I have to look at too many rubbish search results and is having a hard time finding what I want, simply because of god damned internet marketing websites plastered all over.

For the good of the world, for the happiness of internet users, please be green.

I beat Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

I have been playing this Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII published by Square-Enix for the past week or two on my new Playstation Portable and I just beaten the game on Normal Mode an hour ago.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

The game mainly focuses around Zack Fair, a 2nd Class (and later 1st class) SOLDIER, and the events leading up to his destined demise. He meets many of the Final Fantasy VII characters, including Cloud Strife and Aerith Gainsborough, with whom he develops strong bonds. The game’s storyline takes the player from the war with the Wutai to the events at Nibelheim, and right up to the time just before the Final Fantasy VII beginning. Some of the missing events or plot holes from Nibelheim and afterwards are explained in the animated feature, Last Order: Final Fantasy VII. (source: Wikipedia)

Most of the time I spent on the game were on collecting items for a process call “Materia Fusion” whereby Materia — artificial spheres of crystallized mako energy from the planet’s Life Stream, and items can be fused together for more powerful and enhanced materia.

I beat the game with the following achievements.

Heike Soul (accessory) Reward for completing all missions. Strongest accessory in the game.
Divine Slayer (accessory) Reward for defeating Minerva, strongest boss in the game, in the final mission)
Full Genji Equipment Set (accessories, including Genji Helm, Genji Shield, Genji Armor, Genji Glove) Obtained through various missions and treasure chests. Genji Armor required 100% DMW.
100% DMW (Digital Mind Wave) Obtained 100% of all DMW Limit Verges.
Defeated Behemoth King a boss towards the end of the game.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

It is a really good game although the difficulty levels are not as high compared to other Final Fantasy titles. Overall very enjoyable. CG is as usual top-notch Square-Enix quality. Cut scenes are meaningful and well-directed. CG sequences of summonings are killer.

If you are a PSP gamer, try this game. It’s one of the best PSP games out there.

“I’m coming back.” Lance Armstrong’s Inspirational Message

Lance Armstrong is an American professional road racing cyclist. He won the Tour de France a record-breaking seven consecutive years, from 1999 to 2005. He is the only individual to win seven times, having broken the previous record of five wins, shared by Miguel Indurain (consecutive) and Bernard Hinault, Eddy Merckx and Jacques Anquetil. He has survived testicular cancer, a germ cell tumor that metastasized to his brain and lungs, in 1996. His cancer treatments included brain and testicular surgery and extensive chemotherapy, and his prognosis was originally poor.

On 9 September 2008, Armstrong announced that he will return to pro cycling with the goal of winning the 2009 Tour de France. “After talking with my children, my family and my closest friends, I have decided to return to professional cycling in order to raise awareness of the global cancer burden,” Armstrong said Tuesday in a statement posted on his livestrong.com website.

Dreamhost Coupon Codes and Discounts

Alright spare my poor slogan choice. I have been a long time Dreamhost customer and have hosted more than a dozen domains on Dreamhost so I swear by their service. Dreamhost is one of the top hosting company in the United States founded by a bunch of undergrads and have since grown to a big business hosting 700,000 domains on mostly Debian GNU/Linux servers.

Dreamhost Coupon Codes and Discounts

The best part of being a customer of Dreamhost is that they have excellent, I mean super-excellent customer support. The engineers, support personnel or whatever you call them always seems to be there 24/7. All my support issues are usually resolved within 12 to 24 hours. Beat that! Instead of stupid, tedious and unresponsive off-the-shelf ticketing systems, Dreamhost deploys a proprietary wizard-style system that might even help you resolve issues you even before you submit anything. If it’s something serious that someone should check out, you almost always get a reply from a friendly guy explaining the details of whatever fault you are complaining about in a very professional and easy-to-understand manner. If it’s something even more complicated, they will always have experts there to help out. There was once when my WordPress permalinks stopped working and the first engineer had no clue what could be causing the problem, so he promptly directed the ticket to their “WordPress Guru”, without me doing anything like submitting another ticket and explaining everything all over again.

Dreamhost Coupon Codes and Discounts

The other thing that sets Dreamhost apart from the competition is that the service is really personal. Look at their employee profiles and their blog and you’ll know what I am talking about. Who the hell fires employees for wearing cologne!?!?!

So enough of free advertising for them. Check them out and if you think you should have your website hosted on one of their servers, enjoy the best customer support like the ones I ever had, see your website alive and jumping and not stuffed into one unnoticed corner of the shelf, use a well-designed and powerful web control panel that puts cPanel and Plesk to shame… use Dreamhost. Period.

Here comes the juice. I didn’t make you read all that so I can sell something to you. These are discounts that existing Dreamhost customers can give to others to spread the goodness. So if you are getting hosting, might as well get it cheap.

A Little Green

Greeny

Meet “Greeny” the green plant Vivi and I got from IKEA. We are not sure what kind of plant it is but we like it because it has umbrella-shaped leaves and Vivi has a certain affection towards umbrellas. I think it is a nice addition to our room but we need to spray it with water every now and then because the air inside our room is dry.

I hope it grows well and I will post more pics when it does.
